Sophie Walker

PhD Candidate

Sophie is currently enrolled as a Higher Degree Research student, her project centres around addressing barriers to the uptake new technology for more effective management of coastal environments. Using drones as an example,  Sophie plans to identify barriers to their use in environmental management conducted by local governments and community conservation groups. She hopes to overcome those barriers by investigating ways broad and fine scale habitat complexity in coastal systems can be mapped and quantified. Bringing her previous government work experience to the role, Sophie hopes to bridge a gap between research and management practice.
