Ruth Patterson

PhD Candidate

Ruth Patterson is a PhD candidate from Darwin in the Northern Territory, studying physical oceanographic modelling and animal movement ecology in remote tropical waters. Ruth’s principal supervisor, Associate Professor Hamish Campbell, heads up the Movement and Landscape Ecology Lab (MLE-Lab) at Charles Darwin University, and her co-supervisors Professor Eric Wolanski (JCU) and Dr Vinay Udyawer (AIMS) help keep her on track and motivated. Ruth’s passion for matching oceanographic and weather models to the local environment grew from tracking surf conditions via newspaper weather maps at a young age.
