Alysha Sozou

Research Worker - Seagrass Ecology

Alysha has been a member of the TropWATER Seagrass Ecology Group since 2013, working across the group’s state wide research and monitoring projects, with a main focus on tropical seagrasses at risk from anthropogenic activities associated with coastal development. Alysha’s responsibilities within the team also include project operations and support, field research, data collection, lab work, research analysis and validation, and report writing. Previous to working with the Seagrass group, Alysha worked in the Whitsundays and Port Douglas regions for 5 years on the Great Barrier Reef as a Marine Biologist, and was actively involved in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) ‘Eye on the Reef’ long term monitoring program. Alysha holds a Bachelor of Marine Science and Management (BMarSc&Mgt) and is currently undertaking her Masters in Environmental Management (MEnvMan) at the University of Queensland.
